What is Pilates?

Pilates is an exercise that incorporates modern exercise science and rehabilitation principles, eliminating contraindicated movements while emphasizing neutral alignment, core stability and peripheral mobility. Developed by former professional dancer Moira Merrithew, with input from sports medicine professionals, STOTT Pilates is a contemporary, anatomically-based approach to Joseph Pilates’ original exercise method.

Pilates Equipment Studio & Personal Trainers

The Claremont Club offers a fully equipped STOTT™ Pilates Studio with Reformers, Trapeze Tables, Barrels and Split Chairs. The STOTT™ Pilates repertoire consists of more than 500 systematic mat and equipment based mind body exercises taught by a Pilates Trainer. It involves balancing preparatory, essential, intermediate, and advanced level exercises to deliver uniquely effective workout formats.

Private, Semi-Private and Group training is available with one of our STOTT™ certified Pilates Instructors. The Claremont Club Pilates Trainers have all received their training and certifications in the STOTT Pilates Training & Certification program which includes: up to 200 hours of classroom instruction and supervised teaching, and over 200 hours of observation and physical practice. As well as, additional prerequisites of knowledge of functional anatomy and three-plus years teaching movement or fitness.

STOTT Training & Certification is recognized as the most contemporary and comprehensive in the industry. STOTT Pilates incorporates modern biomechanical knowledge, emphasizing core strength and stability and restoration of the natural curves of the spine as key to developing optimal fitness.
