Princess Prima Ballet
Have you seen your son or daughter twirling endlessly in the living room when there's music playing? Or humming to themselves and singing along? How about that tip-toe dance accompanied with big, happy arms?
Expressing oneself through movement to music has always been a natural, joyful response for young children, and a lot of grown-ups too... We love to dance! It's fun and free and feels good! Classical ballet training is such an excellent way for children to develop their coordination, an awareness of their body and their surroundings, and increase their stamina and metabolism. Young children also really benefit from the upper-body and stabilizer muscles developed in ballet, which is so great for injury prevention and maintaining healthy backs and bodies later in life.
The more formal structure of ballet also demonstrates to children the rewards of an excellent work ethic and disciplined environment... but that's not to say we don't have our share of streamers, twirling, and "freeze-dancing" in class! Ballet also introduces small children to classical music and an awareness of tempo and timing, dance history, and performing. At the Club, the kids have a wonderful performing opportunity at the Holiday Party; it's such a fun experience for them.
All of these skills are such a good foundation no matter what your child wants to do; other dance forms of course, but also sports, music, martial arts, cross training for ice-skating or gymnastics, and academics... try studying for a calculus final all night without some discipline! It's so rewarding to see the more quiet or shy children bursting to life in dance class and really showing their artistic spirits... and the outgoing, creative kids have a great structured environment for channeling their energy into self-expression!
